Art and DT Update Summer Term
Another busy term in art and DT. In Year 4, the children have been designing, making and evaluating many products from torches.
Year 1 have been making observational drawings of insects and then painted a large composition using pastels and paint. In Year 2, the children learned about the technique of batik after creating observational drawings of fruit. They transferred their designs onto calico using paste and fabric paint. In Year 3, the children have been studying Monet and learned how to mix colours and create tints to reproduce Monet’s series of the Palace of Westminster.
In Year 5, the children used grey pastels and charcoal to produce monochromatic seascapes and also painted watercolour sunsets inspired by JMW Turner. Year 6 have just started their art topic about cityscapes and looked at technical aspects of drawing by considering different views of perspective.
