PE and sport grant allocations for 2016-2017
Sport Premium Grant Overview
A Sports Premium grant is awarded annually to schools to fund improvements in PE and sport activities. The total funding allocated to St Mary Magdalen’s for the academic year 2016-2017 is £9,060. At St Mary Magdalen’s we are committed to using this resource to provide an enjoyable PE curriculum, extracurricular opportunities and better playtimes for all. This helps our children to develop both mentally and physically, with benefits spread across the curriculum and beyond. The opportunities provided by the funding encourage healthy and active lifestyles, and impact positively the characters of our children by improving concentration, confidence and teamwork. In turn, we hope this will inspire a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity and nurture values that will help them to succeed in life.
The Government funding is already having a significant impact on sport and exercise at St Mary Magdalen’s, enabling our school to reach its vision of outstanding sport and PE for all. The quality of PE teaching has improved, the range of sporting opportunities has grown and the participation and success of our pupils in competitive events has increased. This year we qualified for the Borough Sports Swimming Finals in ten events – our largest number ever to date – and we also made it to the semi-finals in the local schools Netball league.
