Turner in Twickenham Exhibition Project
On Friday 10th May, Year 5 enjoyed a full day of art organised by Turner’s House Learning Officer, Rita Piglionica as part of the Turner in Twickenham Exhibition Project.
Visiting artists taught the children techniques including atmospheric drawings using tonal values of light and dark with soft pastels. The children applied this technique by drawing imaginary landscapes using Turner’s paintings as inspiration. Finally, the children created a collage based on Turner’s House. In groups, they made a template on which they stuck leaves and tape and printed this onto a canvas. They then used the sketches they had drawn at Turner’s House to create their own print.
