“An active and positive P.T.A, I believe, is at the heart of what makes a good school a great school.” Mrs Frostick, Head Teacher

Who we are

One of the things that makes our school special is the dynamic contribution of our Parent-Teacher Association. As a parent, you are automatically a member of the PTA, and we would love you to get involved in any way you can.

We work with the teachers to provide better opportunities for all our children – both financially, through fundraising, and practically, by helping out with extra-curricular activities. We meet regularly in the evenings at school, and you are always welcome to join us.

What we do

Every year, the PTA organises a variety of fun events for parents and children, to help fund much-needed amenities and improvements for the school.

These events range from our hugely successful Summer Fair to the very popular annual Quiz Night, cheese and wine evenings and last year’s rocking Elvis and Curry Night. We also run a host of smaller fundraising events throughout the year, from selling organic fruit and veg bags in the playground, to holding regular cake sales and a Big Pancake Breakfast.

In the 2011-2012 school year, the PTA raised £21,500. It’s hard work, but also extremely rewarding when we see the contributions we have made to the school – from enhanced learning environments to our excellent ITC provision and fantastic new library.

Our Headteacher recently summed up the difference we make:

“Your contributions help us to compete with the larger schools that enjoy much healthier budgets. Fit for Sport, high quality sports instruction for all pupils, is a good example of how you are actively contributing to those additional extras which really do make a difference to what we can offer our children. Our sporting accomplishments this year have been outstanding.”

Do consider giving a little of your time to the PTA: you can be sure your child will benefit.

What’s coming up

The first PTA event of our new school year is the Cheese and Wine Night on 28th September. This is a really enjoyable social event – a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones – and sometimes we’re even lucky enough to be able to hold it outside! Tickets will be on sale in the playground at the start of the new term.

Watch this space for news of other forthcoming events, including our hotly-contested Quiz Night in November. And if you’d like to help us, please contact the school.
